Fishing in Nicaragua

With it’s warm and bountiful waters, Nicaragua is slowly making its name as a world-class sport fishing destination. Pacific offshore fishing offers a great catch of Black Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado. Meanwhile inshore fishing offers just as much excitement with Rooster Fish, Jacks, Barracudas, and Mackerels. The coast of San Juan del Sur offers a wide variety of sport fishing options and there are plenty of fishing spots for everybody. One can simply rent a panga or charter a private boat complete with all the fishing gear needed as well as on-board snacks.

Golf in Nicaragua

When travelling to Nicaragua, golf is an activity that should not be missing in any itinerary. There are several golf courses throughout Nicaragua, many offering more than excellent green but also luxurious accommodation to cater to every traveler’s need. Two of the most popular golf destinations are Hacienda Iguana in Tola, a 9-hole luxury golf resort and Nejapa Golf and Country Club a great 18 hole course, located in Managua. Da Flying Frog is a well priced, adventurous activity that takes about 4 hours. Located behind San Juan del Sur in the foothills, a network of 17 cables makes its way down the mountain, connected to huge trees with wooden platforms on each. All you have to do is strap in your harness, put on a helmet, and enjoy the adrenaline rush as you make your way down the mountain. The longest cable is approximately 350 meters, allowing you to appreciate the amazing views and tree canopy while zipping down the mountain. This activity is suited for all ages from 7 years and up. Da Flying Frog is open Monday thru Saturday from 8am until 4pm, closed on Sundays. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation. They will pick you up at your hotel and drop you back off afterwards. The canopy tour costs US $30 per person.
